Rebel Atlas is an independent media organisation covering conflict, warfare, protest movements and fringe cultures. Independent and contributor-led, Rebel Atlas publishes reporting shaped by journalists and photographers close to the story, not commentators at a distance.

We are completely independent. No corporate backing, no investors and no parent company. Revenue from magazine sales, individual donations and merch sales is reinvested directly into funding the work of our contributors.

This project was started as a response to a media industry that increasingly sidelines original reporting in favour of speed, scale and distance.

As foreign bureaux continue to disappear and editorial budgets shrink, independent reporting is becoming harder to sustain. Journalists closest to the story are often the ones taking the greatest risks for the least return. Rebel Atlas exists to push against that decline by funding and publishing independent journalism.

Established in 2024, Rebel Atlas was created for readers who want journalism outside the limits of corporate media.
